POWER! Scranton Outage at the Vintage Theater

The January POWER! Scranton Outage will be held at the Vintage Theater, 119 Penn Ave., Scranton on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Join young and young-thinking professionals for a tour of the Vintage Theater. Meet Conor O’Brien, Vintage Theater owner and SAGE Award winner, and learn more about Scranton’s 119 Productions.

The event is free for members; $10 for non-members.

POWER! December Event: Holiday Event at Pennstar Bank

POWER! Scranton will hold its Holiday Event on Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Pennstar Bank in the Mall at Steamtown.

Enjoy coffee, pastries and refreshments with fellow POWER! Scranton members. To attend, please bring an unwrapped toy or make a $10 donation to Toys for Tots.

POWER! November Event: Thanksgiving Eve at The Banshee

POWER! Regional Event: Wine Tasting at Bartolai Winery

The POWER! chapters will join together for a regional event on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Bartolai Winery, corner of Route 92 and Coolidge in Harding, PA.

The event will feature a special wine tasting, food, entertainment and networking.

Some of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s finest indulgent treats will be featured during the POWER! Scranton event on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at 400 Spruce Street, Scranton.

400 Spruce is home to Cangiano’s Italian Specialties, Nimble Hill Vineyard and Winery and Chocolate Creations. Sip wine, sample chocolate and fine Italian dishes while networking with young and young thinking-professionals.

V POWER!: Volunteers Needed for Waverly Community Center Playground Rebuild

Power! Scranton is happy to announce our latest “V Power!” opportunity! Participating V Power! members can get discounts on their future memberships and be recognized as a V Power! member at our events and thru our marketing! This month, we’re looking for volunteers from our membership to help out with the rebuilding of the Waverly Comm Playground!

There are plenty of jobs for people of all ages and skills to do! We hope you will consider becoming involved in this project.

Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and safety goggles if they have them. Closed toed shoes are a MUST. Volunteers must be 14 years or older to be on site.

The Community Playground at the Waverly Community House was built in 1990 by a dedicated group of volunteers and donors and has served the community as a place of fun and games for over 20 years. After two decades of use by thousands of children visiting the Comm, it is time to make necessary improvements to this much loved community asset. Though we will be rebuilding the playground, it will still keep the same general structure and excitement of the original Leathers playground. Once again, the Comm is calling upon volunteers and donors to help make these improvements a reality.

POWER! Event at the Country Club of Scranton

Get ready to hit the links with POWER! Scranton. The Country Club of Scranton, 1001 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit, will open its private club to POWER! Scranton members for a networking event on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, from 6-8 p.m.

You can hone your skills with free golf lessons from the club pros, while you meet young and young-thinking professionals, enjoy adult beverages and delectable food, and explore the club grounds and exclusive clubhouse.

Entertainment will be provided by Christian Gratz. Dress to impress – country club casual (no jeans, please).

Celebrating Clarks Summit’s 100-Year Anniversary

POWER! Scranton will celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Clarks Summit with an event on July 20, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Amici Restaurant, 1300 Morgan Highway.

Enjoy networking with young and young thinking professionals; learn about the history of Clarks Summit;
enjoy special “POWER!” adult beverages and happy hour specials for members; taste delectable food; and enjoy the beautiful outdoor patio at Amici!

Guest speakers will be the Clarks Summit Centennial Planning Committee. Entertainment following the event will be provided by Marko Marcinko Jazz Quartet.

This month, we’re looking for volunteers from our membership to help out with the 50th Anniversary of the St. Joseph’s Center Summer Festival!

Help is needed to volunteer at the ice cream stand (the Sweet Shoppe!).  We’re looking for 4 to 5 people per shift, so come to the festival, enjoy the good times, and give a little of your time to help a good cause!  Email Tim McLain, Power! Volunteer Coordinator, at tmclain@dxdempsey.com to help.

What:  St. Joe’s Festival – Sweet Shoppe volunteer
When:  Sunday, July 31st, 2011.  Shifts are from 1:00 to 5:00 or 5:00 to 9:00.
Where: Once again on the campus at Marywood University, the Festival is just a few hundred yards up University Drive in a large lot just behind the Mellow Center for Athletics and Wellness. Shuttles will be available from the marked parking lots on the campus. There will be plenty of signs to guide visitors in the right direction.

Beginning as an orphanage back in 1888, St. Joseph’s has evolved, in response to changing needs, into a multifaceted service provider. Today, individuals diagnosed with mental retardation or a developmental delay, pregnant women, young families, couples hoping to adopt, and people who require outpatient therapy can find help at St. Joseph’s Center.

POWER! White Out during First Friday

POWER! Scranton will host a “White Out” networking event during the First Friday Scranton art walk on Friday, June 3, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Bella Faccia, 516 Lackawanna Ave., Scranton.

Wear white – Heart To Art artists will be ready to paint you to promote your business or just color you up for the fun of it! White shirts will be available for $5.

The event is free and open to the public. Adult beverage sponsor is Rock Creek Corporate Center. Food sponsor is The Scranton Plan.
