Rediscover Scranton Helps Develop Career Academy

Friday, November 13th, 2009

The Scranton Times recently showcased the Career Academy program for Northeastern Pennsylvania high school juniors sponsored by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.

The program aims to show local high school students the wealth of career opportunities available to them right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Students learned about medical careers while visiting the Commonwealth Medical College, explored the field of architecture by visiting Marywood University’s new architecture school and Hemmler and Camayd Architects; and traveled to General Dynamics in Archbald recently. An upcoming trip is planned to the University of Scranton business school and Prudential Financial to discuss careers in finance.

Rediscover Scranton, along with POWER! Scranton and Skills in Scranton, has been instrumental in developing and coordinating the Career Academy program and we’re very proud of the success of the program to date.
