A native of Dunmore and graduate of Dunmore High School, Charles Riddle started his higher education at Wilkes University and practiced locally as a consulting engineer before leaving Northeastern Pennsylvania in 1999 to attend Widener University in Harrisburg while pursuing his juris doctorate degree.

He also lived in the suburbs of Philadelphia before returning to the Greater Scranton area to take over an intellectual property law practice. “I wanted to be able to be at home with friends and family,” he said.

“The people are closer around here. It’s almost like you know everyone. It’s just a calm, comfortable place to live.”

Northeastern Pennsylvania affords Charles a unique opportunity to forge a personal connection with his clients.  As the only boutique intellectual property practice in the region, he provides a service businesses traditionally had to farm out to firms in Philadelphia, New York, or Washington DC.

“Since being a legal intern in 2000, I’ve been practicing IP law in the Philadelphia Suburbs, and handling litigations in various federal courts throughout the United States.”

“Historically, local businesses did not have an opportunity to have someone local with demonstrated experience in patents, trademarks, and copyrights,” he said. “It’s a lot easier now for them to just swing by the office or to have me go to them.”
