Transforming a jewel of Scranton’s past into a functional, posh event space, partners Paul Blackledge and Joshua Mast offer a return to high style at The Colonnade, 401 Jefferson Avenue.

Originally built in 1873 by Austin Blair, son of a DL&W railroad founder, the former “White House” mansion at 401 Jefferson Ave. threatened to become nothing more than a tribute to Scranton’s past before Blackledge and Mast purchased the property in 2006, turning it into a special events venue, catering facility, boutique hotel and a symbol of Scranton’s ongoing renaissance.

When Scranton native Blackledge returned to the area with his Manhattan-based events and catering business, Posh Life LLC, he and Mast settled on the former White House as the perfect location to fulfill their vision for a one-of-a-kind event space and hotel.

Following an extensive renovation effort, The Colonnade now retains all the classic characteristics of the Blair mansion, while offering an intimate and accommodating space suitable for any event large or small.

At the Colonnade, attention is paid to every detail – down to individualized menus and decor – in an effort to tailor each event to the specific needs of a client. Overnight accommodations are also available in the renovated second- and third-floor suites.
