Summer Concert Series Heats Up Courthouse Square

Lackawanna County Commissioners Michael J. Washo, Corey D. O’Brien and A.J. Munchak joined with city of Scranton Mayor Christopher A. Doherty today to announce a new free, four-week summer concert series on Courthouse Square in the heart of downtown Scranton.

The goal of the Saturday Night Back-to-Back Downtown Summer Concert Series is to bring people of all ages and interests to the downtown on the weekend for shopping, dining and entertainment. Each concert will feature two different performers offering different styles of music ranging from big band, swing and polka to jazz, rock and country. The first act will play from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by the next performer from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.

“Our objective is to enliven the downtown by offering residents a quality musical experience,” Commissioners O’Brien and Washo said. “We hope people will see this as an opportunity to visit downtown retailers, experience the cuisine at a new downtown restaurant and simply soak up the energy that only a vibrant downtown can create.”
