![]() ![]() The Connell Building: Restoring a Downtown TreasureOne of Scranton’s most distinguished downtown landmarks, the Connell Building has returned to its former glory thanks to an extensive renovation process. The once-vacant building has been transformed into stylish and contemporary retail and residential space. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Connell Building, which dates to 1886, fell into disuse before a recent $23 million reconstruction project which converted the building into a mix of retail, office and residential space, including 15,000 square feet of available retail space on the ground floor and 89 rental units. The apartments, called the Connell Lofts, offer beautiful, one- and two-bedroom living spaces with open floor plans, high ceilings and every modern convenience and amenity. Connell Lofts is located in the heart of downtown Scranton within walking distance of some of the area’s best restaurants, shops, galleries and theaters, as well as the University of Scranton and the Commonwealth Medical College. In December, new, turnkey office space and live-work units that combine apartment and office space became available. Conference rooms, public bathrooms and storage areas are available for these spaces. The renovation of the Connell Building continues the momentum of projects like the Renaissance at 500 that are revitalizing the downtown Scranton area, making it an even greater place to live, work and play.
