Attorney Jason M. O’Malley grew up in North Scranton, attending Scranton High School and receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Scranton. He left the area to pursue his Juris Doctorate at the Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg.

It was his friends, family and the lifestyle of the Greater Scranton area that brought him back. “It’s a cliché, but there’s a reason for that,” Jason said.

He also saw career opportunities open to him in Northeastern Pennsylvania that he couldn’t find elsewhere. Jason served as a law clerk in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas and as an Assistant District Attorney in the drug unit of the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s office.

“It’s an interesting area for lawyers,” Jason said of Northeastern Pennsylvania, explaining that the region is small enough that you aren’t forced into a narrow field of specialization as in larger cities, “but big enough that you couldn’t just hang up a shingle and call yourself a general practitioner.”

“You can find a niche in one, two, three areas of law,” Jason said. “It’s community based and it’s always fresh.”

“I’m a Scranton guy,” he added. “I’ve always said, if I’m going to be successful, I’m going to do it here.”
