The restaurant name came from the Irish legend of Molly Brannigan. Molly was one of the most beautiful women in the Emerald Isle. With beauty like that naturally all the young men pursued her, but she never gave in to their advances. All her energy was put into helping those less fortunate. Times were hard in Ireland and many were forced to leave their country for new hope in America. Molly would go down to the docks and feed these folks giving them drink and wishing them a safe passage. It is said Molly herself immigrated to America after a time.
