Testimonial: I left Scranton in 1991 for college and missed the area every day until I returned 3 years ago. Family, friends and all the people of the region create a feeling of welcoming and togetherness that is unique. After earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, I worked on Wall Street as an investment banker and worked all over the world performing leveraged buyouts. I never experienced a place that made me feel at home like Scranton does. I wanted to return to the area, but the state of the area stopped me from following my heart back home. It was more than the statistics of decline, deteriorating downtown, lack of investment and lack of high paying jobs kept me at bay however – it was also the attitude; being slightly embarrassed about being from Scranton and the general lack of hope that things would improve.

The few years prior to my return however, I saw all that begin to change. Most importantly, I and many others started to believe that Scranton was on the move. This new attitude, fueled by the rebirth of the downtown, emergence of new political leaders and guidance from existing community leaders, was what convinced me to come home. After getting my MBA from Columbia University in 2002, I decided to use what I learned to help grow my family business and participate in the continued renaissance in Scranton. I want to be a part of what is happening and help lead the charge. Scranton is more than my home; it is an exciting and vibrant place to live. Believing this is what will bring the new Scranton to life.
