Rediscover Scranton on Thanksgiving Eve

Before you settle down for turkey and stuffing with the family, you can enjoy one of the best nights out in Northeastern Pennsylvania – Thanksgiving Eve. The influx of former residents returning to the area to spend Thanksgiving with family makes it a great night to Rediscover Scranton.

Around the Scranton area, bars and nightclubs will feature drink specials and live entertainment including Picture Perfect at Rocky’s Lounge, 141 Jefferson Ave.; The B Street Band at Whistles Pub & Eatery, 126 Franklin Ave.; The Invisible Swordsmen at Cooper’s Seafood House, 701 N. Washington Ave.; Old Friends at The Banshee, 322 Penn Ave.; 1,2,3 Go! at Heil’s Place, 1002 Wheeler Ave.; The Girls at Kilcoyne’s, 129 S. Main Ave.; and at Tink’s, 519 Linden St., Nowhere Slow will perform from 8-10 p.m., followed by Drop Dead Sexy from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Kildare’s Irish Pub, 119 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, will carry on its annual Gobble Off Thanksgiving Eve tradition. You have two chances to show off your gobbling skills and win cash prizes at 9 and 11 p.m. The top prize winner takes home $100. And if you’re not in the gobbling mood, Electric Mayhem will be performing all night.

One of the biggest Thanksgiving Eve parties in the Wilkes-Barre area will be held at the Woodlands Inn & Resort, 1073 Highway 315, Wilkes-Barre. The Woodlands’ party will span three generations of music. The Grand Ballroom will take you back to the ‘70s with XClusive and the Soul Revival, the Richard Tucker Band and DJ Godfather; doors open 8 p.m. Or revisit the ‘80s in the Streamside Bandstand with live music by M-80; doors open 9 p.m. The ‘90s return inside the Evolution Nightclub with 98.5 KRZ, Kev the Rev and Red Bull Ron; doors open 8 p.m.
